THE DESIGN GUIDE

There are endless ways to customize your wedding stationery to make it feel personal and one of a kind. This guide explores the range of possibilities, covering everything from the paper and ink colors to the final assembly.

Customization Overview

Each semi-custom collection was designed so that it can evolve to reflect your personal style. Here is a brief outline of the features that can and cannot be altered within each design:

Customizable Features:

You may choose the print method, paper and envelopes, ink or foil colors, typography and the content/wording with a semi-custom design. You may also make edits to the text alignment and customize the final assembly with a variety of embellishments.

Fixed Features:

The general layout, orientation and card sizing cannot be modified with the semi-custom collection. If you wish to make edits to these features, a custom design may be better suited for you.

Print Method

The print method you choose for your invites can further enhance the design and help establish the right tone. Each is special in their own way and certain situations may call for one over another. You can also combine methods for added interest within the design.

DIGITAL ($)

Digital printing is the most versatile solution and is ideal for illustrative or multicolor designs. It can be used on a wide range of papers and also combined with any of the other print methods.

Print time: 3-4 weeks

LETTERPRESS ($$)

Letterpress printing uses a plate to imprint your design into the paper using pressure. It is ideal for designs with 1-2 colors and can also be done without ink to achieve a beautiful, textured effect.

Print time: 4-6 weeks

Foil ($$$)

Foil stamping uses a plate and metallic foil sheet to press your design into the paper using heat. It is ideal for achieving a metallic appearance or printing light colors on dark papers.

Print time: 4-6 weeks

Paper & Envelopes

The colors you choose for your paper and envelopes will work to define the mood of your celebration, whether it’s an airy, garden affair or an elegant, urban soiree. I love dreaming up palettes and working to find a paper and ink combination that establishes just the right tone for your day.

PAPER:

You can mix and match colors from this carefully-selected range of premium card stock. Each features a subtle texture and has a thickness of #100-111 or can be upgraded to a double thick weight. Please note that the actual paper may vary from the color on your screen and that white ink or foil stamping is recommended on darker stocks. I am also happy to source additional colors or handmade papers if you don’t see exactly what you’re looking for.

ENVELOPES:

Coordinating euro flap envelopes are available in each of the colors above. Colors indicated with an * are also available with a square flap. Guest and return address printing are also available for an additional cost.

Ink & Foil Colors

Similar to the paper, the ink or foil colors you choose will work to further define the mood of your celebration and create contrast within the design. With digital printing, you may select as many colors as you like to bring your vision to life. Whereas with letterpress printing, I recommend working with 1-2 colors or you can print without ink for a subtle, tactile appearance.

Typography

Due to the understated nature of the semi-custom collection, the typography plays a leading role in conveying the overall mood of your celebration. It can be used to create a range of emotions, from formal elegance to romantic simplicity. The following type pairings showcase some of my favorite fonts and demonstrate how type can be used to set the tone.

Assembly

The final step in the design process is choosing how to assemble your invitation suite. I like to treat each as a special package with the hope that it will encourage your guests to slow down and savor the details, while building excitement for your celebration.
